A seven-year-old boy was killed in a house fire last night on Highway 26, near County Road 10 in Clearview Township.

“Despite rescue efforts by first responders and persons at scene, the victim could not make it out and died in the house fire,” said police.

Emergency crews were called to attend to the fire at 8:50 p.m. to find four occupants had escaped and the house was fully engulfed in flames. Emergency crews were advised that one occupant, the seven-year-old boy, was still trapped inside.

A post mortem examination has been scheduled in the coming days at the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-OFPS) in Toronto and the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) is investigating.

Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
