Clearview legalizes backyard chickens

 In News

Clearview council has approved a zoning bylaw amendment and licensing bylaw to allow for backyard chickens.

“Staff has reviewed the comments submitted by the public and have decided to keep the limit of chickens to four hens. Staff believe this is an acceptable number of hens and corresponds with surrounding municipalities. Changes have been made to the draft by-law to allow Council to grant a site specific exemption, to permit more than four hens on a case-by-case basis,” reported senior bylaw enforcement officer Joe Paddock on April 25.

A permit fee has been set at $30.
