Council calls it on 2020 Small Halls Festival

Added to the many disappointments caused by the pandemic, Clearview Township has decided to cancel the Small Halls Festival.
The $25,000 earmarked for the 2020 festival will be transferred to next year’s budget.
“There have been festivals that have shifted towards a digital or virtual platform, we just believe that our brand promise is providing an award-winning festival that really showcases the halls and the best experience is to actually have those doors open,” said Amanda Murray during the June 8 council meeting.
She said a decision needed to be made because this is crunch time in the festival world when grants, sponsorships, ticket sale strategy need to be confirmed.
“At this point we just can’t guarantee the health of our partners or the guests that are coming into our township. It is a really difficult decision. It’s certainly the first time I’ve had to recommend cancelling an event due to a pandemic and hopefully it’s the last time,” said Murray.
