Crawford, Elizabeth Helen (nee Coates)

Elizabeth Helen Crawford (nee Coates) passed away peacefully surrounded by family Tuesday May 26, 2020 at Matthews House Hospice in her 96th year.

Helen was predeceased by her husband Harold and son Brian. She will be deeply missed by her son Peter (Patricia) of Comox, BC, daughter Susan of Goderich and son John (Betty) of Thornton. Forever cherished by her grandchildren Geoffrey (Maria), Allison (Brian), Rebecca (Harris), Amber (Benjamin) and Samantha and great grandchildren Peter, Tyler, Ava, Calvin, Luke, Ella, Mackenzie and Brooklyn.

Helen was born on April 20, 1925 in Avening to parents Cecil and Elsie Coates; she was predeceased by her brothers Robert and Peter and sisters Jean and Lorraine. She will be remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Always the proud nurse, Helen graduated from nursing school at the Collingwood G&M Hospital in 1946. She and her husband Harold served the community for many years at the Crawford Funeral Home and continued their dedication to the community into retirement. Helen was a devoted member of the St. Luke’s Anglican Church in Creemore.

Due to current circumstances, private services will be held Friday May 29, 2020 with interment at Creemore Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Matthews House Hospice and Creemore Union Cemetery in memory of Helen.
