Clearview Township is now accepting nominations for the new Culture and Sports Hall of Fame.

The awards were created to honour individuals and groups who have made a positive impact on the sports and cultural community throughout the Township.

“This is a great opportunity to highlight the hard work and dedication of our residents and community members for their excellence and achievements within culture and sports,” explained Mayor Christopher Vanderkruys. “It will be great to celebrate the positive impact that their involvement and influence has had on the Clearview Township community”.

The Hall of Fame Awards are divided into 10 categories: Athlete of the Year Award, Athlete Achievement Award, Builder Award, Team Award, Artist of the Year Award, Artist Achievement Award, Festival/Event Award, Community Volunteer Award, Young Leader Culture Award, Young Leader Sport Award.

Nomination forms are available at the Clearview Township Administration Centre, Clearview Public Library Branches and at both the Creemore and Stayner Arenas. Nomination forms are also available online at www.clearview.ca/hall-of-fame. Nominations will be accepted until March 31.

In addition, information packages will be shared with local community groups over the coming weeks.

The selection committee will be made up of three the staff members (the general manager of parks, culture and recreation, the community, culture and tourism coordinator and recreation clerk) and the mayor and deputy mayor, but the inductees will be given final approval by council.

The awards will be displayed at the Stayner Arena, in the lobby that is being redesigned as part of the library construction project.
