Don’t stop the presses!

The mission of the Creemore Echo is to be a trusted leader, connecting community by providing a hub of information and services to readers and businesses, to support health and prosperity in the region. Our work has never felt more challenging – or more important – than it has this week.
Providing our supply chain and our health remains intact we will continue to send out a print edition via Canada Post as per usual. In the event there is a disruption of service with our printer or mail service we will be publishing online.
We are working at our Caroline Street West office but our doors are locked. Being an important community hub, we regularly have many visitors and we miss the steady stream of friendly faces through our door, but we have been told we must distance ourselves for the greater good and we feel the best way to ensure the health of our community is to find other ways to stay in touch. So, please call us or e-mail. You’ll find all of our contact information at the bottom of this page.
Many businesses are making the difficult decision to close and limit service, all of which is being done voluntarily in response to recommendations from government and health officials. This leaves many people in a state of employment limbo, and as know firsthand, the uncertainty can lead to anxiety. We have offered up advertising space to downtown businesses this week so they can communicate how they are adjusting their operations. The page 12 ad outlines who is open and when and how they can serve their patrons.
The service interruption at local businesses also means that the regular places people would pick up the Echo on Friday are not open so we have set up a couple newspaper boxes in town (one will be in front our office, and the Chestnut Park Realty box in front of Foodland will be stocked with Echos during this health crisis). For the next three months, we will also provide free online editions to everyone by e-mail and mailed subscriptions outside of our area at cost of $15 – this will just help us cover our cost of mailing. Contact natalie@creemore.com to arrange to receive your paper.
Creemore is a caring community and we are well poised to support each other, not only local businesses wherever possible, but also our neighbours. Many people are faring well now, but these are early days. Check-ins will be become more important as time goes by.
This village proves itself time and again to be a place of cooperation and compassion. We trust our big hearts will help see us all through this challenging time. Stay apart but stand together.
