Driver killed in head-on collision, two airlifted to hospital

One person is dead and two others were flown to hospital after a collision near Singhampton.

On June 10, at 12:48 p.m., Grey County OPP received a report of a two-vehicle head-on crash along Grey County Road 4 in the Municipality of Grey Highlands. Officers arrived with Grey County Paramedics and members of the Grey Highlands Fire Department to find that a red Ford Escape and a Blue Dodge pick-up truck were involved in the collision.

The driver of the Dodge pick-up, 67-year-old Colin Benson of West Grey, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the pick-up, 69-year-old Larry Benson of Brampton, was airlifted to a Toronto hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The driver of the Ford Escape, a 20-year-old man from West Grey, was also airlifted to a Toronto hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Both were reported to be in stable condition.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation unit is assisting the Grey County OPP with this incident.

Grey County Road 4 was closed from Grey Road 63 to Grey Road 124 for the protection of emergency responders. The investigation continues and charges are pending.
