 In Obituaries

December 25, 1923 – February 17, 2018

Helen Blanche Ducklin passed away at Sunset Manor, Collingwood on February 17. She was predeceased by her husband Arnold (February 26, 2002), Helen was born in Maxwell Ontario, on Christmas day, 1923, the only child of a farm equipment salesman. Her mother passed away when Helen was just 16 so she became a self-reliant, independent woman at a very young age. She moved to Stratford, then to Windsor where she worked for Air Canada for many years. Helen met Arnold at the age of 30 and they married in 1955. Arnold’s work with Borden’s took them to Nassau for 13 happy years, dragon boat racing and entertaining Toronto visitors. Helen brought her beauty and impeccable style to every event. Returning to the Creemore area Helen and Arnold became fixtures in the community and at Osler Bluff ski club-so many friends and good times! In May 2011 Helen experienced sudden blindness and moved to Sunset Manor Nursing Home. She has been an inspiration to us all – her razor sharp memory and grace have made every visit a special time. Helen lived her life with wisdom, love and courage.

Our thanks to the caring staff at Sunset Manor and to the special friends who have been so loyal and supportive.

There will be gathering in memory of Helen on Saturday March 10th at 3:00 p.m. at Fawcett Funeral Home, 82 Pine St. Collingwood

If you wish, a contribution could be made to the CNIB in Helen’s memory. Friends may visit Helen’s online Book of Memories at www.fawcettfuneralhomes.com
