Eye for decor leads to new family business
A new family business brings old treasures to life and puts a twist on event décor.
Sisters-in-law Corina and Nica Hammill have sourced a range of objects that set the stage for weddings and other special occasions. Their selection differs from the standard rental company, probably because some of the items are from their own family members.
Since June, the Hammill women have combined their skills to create Dream Décor and More, a Dunedin based décor rental service.
There are crochet tablecloths made by Nica’s mother and dishes from Corina’s mother and aunt.
Both Nica and Corina have a lot of experience in hospitality. A Wasaga Beach resident, Nica has done more than 70 weddings for Parkbridge and Corina is a former flight attendant and server.
Corina said they both bring specific skills to the business, making for a good team.
Currently a home based business, they have lanterns, vases, apple boxes, bins, barrels, lanterns, floral sprays, accent lighting and much more to give any space a specific vibe. They use old ladders and wood planks to create shelving and reclaimed wooden doors to create a backdrop.
The custom woodworking to create live edge counters – ideal for setting up bars and food service areas – is done by Corina’s brother Michael Muller.
“It is that one-stop shop for anything you may need without having to purchase it,” said Corina.
They cater to the client’s style, creating what they may have in mind. For example, for a viewing for one client they created a candy bar, a dessert service area, a bar and photo op set-ups, one with a floral frame and one with a vintage settee.
People can pick and chose specific items or for a flat fee have their pick of the entire stock.
To get more information about their stock and pricing, contact Corina Hammill at 705-790-9436 or firstname.lastname@example.org and Nica Hammill at 705-970-1479 or email@example.com. Dream Décor and More is hosting an open house at Dunedin Community Hall on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Rental items can be picked up, delivered, or set up. Catering can also be arranged.
