Fall fair at GNE Sept. 23-25

The 161st fall fair at the Great Northern Exhibition is Sept. 23-25.

The grounds open daily at 9 a.m. and close at 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission costs $10 for adults (12 and up), $4 for youth six- 11 and children five and younger are admitted free. There is free parking on the grounds.

Advanced tickets are available at Foodland in Creemore. A midway pass costs $20 in advance, as opposed to $27 at the fair and regular admission costs $8 in advance.

Events begin on Friday and go all weekend. The junior and senior ambassador program and opening ceremony is Friday along with the tractor pull and midway. Lawn tractor races and horse pull are on Saturday. Sheep shearing and horse shows are on Sunday.

Organizers are looking for participants for the senior ambassador contest. Male and female contestants between the ages of 18 and 23 (as of August 2017) are welcome.
