On Feb. 1 in the first grading of the decade, five students from Maizis Martial Arts Academy tested for their new ranks.
Achieving his Yellow Stripe belt was Dean Murphy.
Achieving their yellow belts were Madi Collver, Daniel Moore, and Kavin Ramesh.
Achieving her orange belt was Alice Curry.
During the grading students are required to be tested on physical endurance, martial arts skills, and history-based knowledge.
“Seeing the benefits of martial arts in my student’s everyday lives makes my heart smile,” said Soke Michelle Maizis. “They have better physical and mental health, improved concentration, improved self-confidence and self-esteem, and they are learning self-defence.  I am so proud of each of them.”
