Former teacher charged with sexual assault

Police have arrested and charged a former Clearview Township teacher as a result of a historical sexual assault investigation.

The investigation began after police received complaints about historical sexual assaults against young people that took place in the late 1970s. These incidents occurred at a private residence in Clearview Township when the victims were teenagers.

John Bain, 68, of Toronto is facing three counts of Gross Indecency, three counts of Indecent Assault as well as one count of Sexual Assault. He was arrested on August 2 and held for bail court on that date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie.

Police believe there may be additional victims as the accused was employed as a music teacher from 1976 to 2006 in Clearview Township.
