Foundation welcomes two youth to steering committee

Editor:
Thank you, Tony Fry, for your comments regarding the need to engage young people In the Vision for Creemore project currently underway. The Foundation and the steering committee welcome everyone’s involvement and especially teens and younger adults who will bring their own perspective and of course represent the future of Creemore. And thank you for putting us in touch with Marty Hewitt, a Grade 11 student at CCI, and Davin Metheral, a student at Ryerson’s School of Urban and Regional Planning. Both care deeply about their community and its future. We are enthusiastic about their involvement, their ability to bring a younger perspective and welcome them both.
We have received 313 surveys completed by those who have taken part in the project, which is excellent participation. Additionally, we have had a number of one-on-one interviews, three “community meetings,” one each with local businesses, arts and community organizations, and local farms which have generated some very thoughtful ideas.
We continue our work with Small/ERA Architects who will help us develop productive ideas and strategies relating broadly to issues such as economic development, strengthening our arts, culture and heritage, ensuring the vitality of Creemore’s “downtown” as well as encouraging youth engagement.
Greg Young,
Creemore.
