Government trying to control spending

 In Letters, Opinion

Editor:
On February 14, in a front page article you wrote of the ongoing teachers’ strikes with the headline, “Four Unions unite for cross-province walkout,” you quoted Sam Hammond president of the Elementary Teachers Federation (ETFO), Harvey Bischof of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation Association (OSSTF), Liz Stuart of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association (OECTA)  and last but certainly not least Rene Sabourin of the Association des Ensignantes et des Ensignants Franco-Ontariens (AEFO).
Nowhere in your article did you mention the fact that the Provincial Government is simply trying to control its spending of taxpayers’ dollars or see fit to explain that the province has in fact been increasing education spending over the past decade.
While most of us are used to bias, and completely unbalanced reporting in our mainstream media, I had hoped that a better standard might apply to our local new sources.
Apparently not.
