Gowan Park pavilion goes to tender

 In News

The township is proceeding with the replacement of the pavilion at Gowan Park.

Clearview council has approved a tender, submitted by Nic and Andy’s Pipe Service in the amount of $5,324.56, for the demolition of the pavilion and storage building at Gowan Park and a tender has been issued for the construction of the new building.

The successful bidder will be responsible for constructing a new 25-by-75 foot, 1,875 square foot pavilion with storage, a serving counter, and two accessible washrooms.

It will be located in the same area but will be oriented perpendicular to the street.

The current pavilion is in poor condition.

Some funds for its replacement were included in last year’s budget but not enough to complete the entire project. Staff applied for grant money but being unsuccessful, it was recommended that the full cost of the new pavilion and washrooms – $150,000 – be included in the 2017 budget.

Due to vandalism, the existing washrooms have been used mainly for storage as of late and will continue to be used as such.
