Home Hardware welcomes new owners

Creemore Home Hardware is changing hands.
Owner Ross Lotto has decided to retire and spend more time at home and with family.
He revived the business in 2014 after a brief closure and Lotto said he worked hard to bring the store back up to a certain standard and leave it in a better position for the next owners. Lotto said he will miss the customers and the staff but running the business is a lot for one person so he is happy to have a couple taking the helm.
Taking over Creemore Home Hardware is a homecoming of sorts for Patrick Charlebois, who was born and raised in the village, and a dream come true for his wife Sarah Charlebois.
The hardware store was recently purchased by the Meaford couple who met while working together at Home Hardware in Thornbury. Sarah said she has wanted to own a Home Hardware store since she was 16 years old. Both her parents worked in the hardware and building supply industry and her mother was the manager of the Thornbury store, where she worked for 16 years.
“We fell in love while carrying drywall together,” said Sarah, laughing, adding they have now been married for five years.
Patrick worked at the same store for the past nine years, so they know they work well together. He likes that Home Hardware is a Canadian company, really stands behind the community, and is there for people in times of need to supply them with whatever they need for projects and quick fixes.
They say the company values customer service above all.
Patrick said he likes Creemore’s small town feel and sees the purchase of the store as a return to his roots.
He and Sarah say they are going to take some time to get to know the community and their product preferences so they can carry specific things but they also take special orders. Large items can be ordered to the store too, and they offer free delivery. There are thousands of products not displayed in the store that can be accessed within a week, by ordering in-store.
One big change is that the store will be open on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Creemore Home Hardware is located at 153 Mill St.
