Hospice Georgian Triangle increases visitors

Hospice Georgian Triangle will be increasing essential visitors to two visitors per patient at Campbell House.
Following guidelines outlined by the Chief Medical Officer of Health and local Public Health Authorities, Campbell House Visiting Policies during the Covid-19 pandemic are reflected in “zones”. The zones are listed as Green, Yellow or Red. A graphic detail of these zones can be found at www.hospicegeorgiantriangle.com.
Dr. Alyssa Boyd, Medical Director at Campbell House explained, “We are very happy to move from the current Red zone to the Yellow zone as of today. We understand the crucial role family and visitors play in the care during a patient’s end-of-life journey. Patients at Campbell House may now have two designated visitors; each visitor must come one at a time and not overlap their visits. We ask that physical distancing still be maintained as much as possible to reduce the potential spread of COVID-19.”
Trish Rawn, Interim Executive Director at Hospice Georgian Triangle shared, “The use of cloth masks, gloves and cloth gowns are still required for all visitors, and the staff at Campbell House will continue to provide the education and assistance to visitors in order to ensure safety and comfort for all. All visitors will be screened upon arrival and will be required to have their temperature checked twice daily by staff.”
Outdoor visits with patients will be permitted at the direction of Dr. Boyd and must be prearranged with HGT’s Patient and Family Support Worker. There are two outdoor patios at Campbell House that may be used for patient visits, with a maximum of four visitors at a time, respecting physical distancing requirements and for a maximum of a one hour visit. Alternative, non-face-to-face visits such as Window visits, Skype, Facetime, Phone calls and Texts are still very much encouraged.
Janet Fairbridge, HGT Foundation Director added, “With the full complement of 10 beds at Campbell House now in operation, we thank the residents, families and visitors for their patience and adherence to these policies. This enables the safe, continued access for all who need the exceptional end-of-life and palliative care provided by the team at HGT and Campbell House. Our deepest gratitude goes out to the donors in our community who provide the funding to make the delivery of this care possible.”
