Kay Newell celebrates 100th birthday

Kay Newell, a longtime resident of Creemore, celebrated her 100th birthday on May 16.

Kay is now living at St. Joseph’s Health Care Centre in Guelph in long term care. She was born May 16, 1917 at Lavender and lived in Creemore most of her adult life.

Although certainly smaller than her 90th birthday party, which was a dance at the legion hall in Creemore with over 300 in attendance, at her 100th birthday party she enjoyed sipping her wine and visiting with the 30-40 friends and family who were able to drop in.

As she said in her speech thanking everyone for coming to celebrate with her, “If I couldn’t quite place everyone when you came today, I will do better at my next birthday party”.
