Lant, Ronald Alfred

 In Obituaries

Ronald Alfred Lant passed away with his family at his side on Thursday, September 6 at Sunset Manor, Collingwood at the age of 86.

Ron lived his life to the fullest until he was sidelined by dementia. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he dedicated more than 40 years of his spare time to coaching and organizing kids sports in the communities where he lived (Creemore, Sudbury and Toronto). He believed strongly in the importance of providing an opportunity for all children to just play. He had a love for Canada, camping from coast to coast with the whole family. He had an esoteric interest in a broad range of subjects, and was proud to be a lifelong learner.

Ron is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley, his children Michael (Elizabeth), David (Victoria), Barbara (Dan) and Patricia (Serge), and his grandchildren (Mackenzie, Nick, Jeremy, Cleo, Colin, Emily and Evan), his brother Tony and many friends.

The family will hold a private celebration of life.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron’s memory to Clearview Soccer Club (cheques payable to Clearview Soccer Club, P.O. Box 2040, Creemore, Ontario, L0M 1G0), or a charity of your choice, would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Fawcett Funeral Home.
