Donalda Mackey passed away peacefully on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Creedan Valley Care Community with her family by her side in her 103rd year.

Donalda was the eldest daughter of the late David William Gray Briggs and Flora Jane (Gillies) Briggs. Sister to JD Briggs (deceased), Margaret Swan, Charles Briggs (deceased) and Archie Briggs.  Devoted wife of the late Charlie Mackey. Donalda was a loving mother of two children, the late David and his surviving wife Thelma, Jean Metheral and her husband Neil. Proud grandmother Tammy Zeggil and her husband Gord, Terry Jamieson and her husband Paul, Tim Mackey and his wife Paula, Richard Metheral and his wife Jodie, Cona Metheral and his wife Theresa, Duane Metheral and his wife Kerri.  Donalda loved her eighteen Great Grandchildren, Dane, Jace, Jesse, William, Andrew, Strath, Christopher, Joel, Danielle, Jackson, Cody, Shannon, Tristan, Tahnee, Tanner, Wade, Taylor and Cole. Donalda was also blessed with three Great Great Grandchildren; Charlotte, Archie and Lenix.

Born and raised on the Centre line Con 1 Osprey Township, graduated from North Bay Normal School in 1936, she taught children in a one-room school at USS#3 Nottawasaga, in Osprey at Springview school, north of Singhampton and at USS#4 on the Blind Line. Once her children were raised, she returned to teach at Maple Valley (1958-1963), Cloverla, at NCCS Creemore (1967-1975).

She lived life to the fullest visiting with family, gardening, picking berries, walking, bowling, curling, square dancing and playing card games. Donalda was an active member of the UCW United Church, she truly loved to sing hymns, the WI and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Visitation was held Tuesday, October 9, 2018 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. in the chapel at Fawcett Funeral Home – Creemore Chapel. Interment South Line Cemetery, Badjeros.
