Mansfield WI opposed ball park cell tower

At council meeting on Oct. 3 Deputy Mayor Earl Hawkins voiced his and Mulmur residents concerns about a tower proposed to be built in Mansfield Ball Park, stating it was not appropriate for the ball park and that there were other sites that should be looked at.  He made a motion to council that the issue of a proposed tower for Mansfield Park be deferred until Nov. 7 so other options could be investigated. Council members all voted in favor of the motion. As Mayor Paul Mills said “We have only one chance to do this right”.

This deferment is no guarantee that the vote will not go differently on Nov. 7. It is more important than ever that all residents, not in favor of locating the Tower in the Park make your concerns known to The Township of Mulmur Council and Rodgers.

Let it be known that we do not oppose a tower but no oppose it in a park area where children play, family events take place and where our cenotaph is situated.

Most municipalities recognize that park lands add value to their community and do what is needed to preserve and enrich them. They know, once it is compromised there is no turning back the clock.

We need to preserve all of Mansfield Park for present and future recreational uses.

Mulmur residents, let’s work together to keep our park a recreational spot, safe from this kind of development.  A place where families can still gather and enjoy what a park can offer. It is important that we continue to make our voices heard and not become complacent or we will be in real danger of having our community park changed forever.

Jane Hawkins,

President Mansfield Women’s Institute.
