Oliver, Helen Elizabeth (nee Smith)

 In Obituaries

“The stars are not wanted now,

Put out every one

Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun

Pour away the ocean and

Sweep up the woods

For nothing now

Can ever come to any good.”

W.H.Auden

On Saturday, July 21, 2018, the world, in a small way, felt the passing of Helen Elizabeth Oliver (nee Smith). A woman whose external beauty was only surpassed by the beauty and kindness that resided within her. A beauty and kindness that was experienced by all those who were fortunate to touch her life.

If she had just been granted a little more time, Helen would gladly have written a note, or sent a card, to thank everyone for being a part of her life. Everyone from her immediate family, her mother Ethel, children Ron, Janie, Tracey and grandson Brandon, to her extended family at the bank, post office, grocery store, gas station, retirement home, pharmacy… anyone, anywhere, and everywhere she travelled on her daily route.

Helen’s beauty was lost on no one and her kindness knew no bounds.

There will be no public or private service – only a simple request in Helen’s memory. Please take the time to write a little note, give a gift (no matter how small) or speak some kind words to all the people who touch your life on a daily basis.

“I love you to the moon and back” Helen

To Helen’s family and her dear mother Ethel Smith we would like to extend our sincere sympathy. Ed and I have known and kept in touch since we were 15 years old attending Brantford Collegiate Institute and living in Village of Mt. Pleasant. She loved to ride my horse with me (Norma) and was a Majorette with the Telephone City Trumpet Band in Brantford, We loved keeping in touch by phone and visiting a couple of times a year. We had so much fun reminising old times with Helen and Ethel. May God Bless and keep you. Until we meet again. Love and hugs to all.

My friend Helen – what can I say? our friendship knew no bounds and our love of friends and family was the most precious part of our lives. Since moving apart I have felt the distance each time I felt the urge to “take a little trip to TO” or somewhere and return home after a wonderful day together eating, of course, our jelly beans and jujubes and singing with the radio. We swore we would grow old together and sit on our front porch, in our rocking chairs, and laugh about all the fun we had. Well, we didn’t get to do that and I will miss you, until we meet again, and we can sit and rock on heaven’s porch.
