Proposal to allow ATVs on ward-by-ward basis

 In Letters, Opinion

Editor:
With respect to the 6-3 vote to allow off road vehicles onto all of the roads in Clearview, that decision, since it comes from a ward based voting system, should be changed so that those wards who voted in favour should get them and those wards that voted against them should not.
Perhaps some of our councillors would like to make that amendment to show that there is some consideration given to those that live on roads without sidewalks (George Street in Creemore for example) in the middle of towns where these off road vehicles currently totally, ignore the law with respect to speeding and use of those roads.
Two takeaways from this: Did councillors take advice from constituents in their wards? Do constituents know how their respective councillor voted?
Taxpayers should also be aware that the Concerned Clearview Citizens Group (CCCG) cccg2019@outlook.com is filing two requests with the Integrity Commissioner for the investigation of one councillor and council as a whole with respect to the perceived conflict of interest of which council was aware from some of the 60 responses to the request for feedback of Deputy Mayor Barry Burton prior to their deliberations and the total lack of due diligence undertaken by Mayor Doug Measures to ensure that the discussion and vote on the matter met all of the requirements of legislation before discussions were permitted.
