Selina Tombs placed first at The Skate Canada Adult National Figure Skating Championships held in Oakville April 21-24.

Tombs, 43, won the ladies’ masters freeskate competition for skaters aged 35 to 55. Skaters were required to perform one freeskate program, up to four minutes and 10 seconds long. Tombs is a Lisle resident and her home club is the Creemore Skating Club but she also trains at several other clubs throughout the year, including Mariposa School of Skating in Barrie.

She was a competitive skater through university until 2000 and returned to compete as an adult this year.

Tombs finished first in all three of the competitions she entered this season, one in December and one in March.

She said she plans to continue competing next year and plans to go all the way to the worlds.
