Stewart, Donald Louis Charles

Donald Louis Charles Stewart passed away peacefully on August 26, 2017 at the age of 74 with his family at his side. Predeceased by his first wife Gail, he is survived by his wife Mary, son Geoff (Michelle), daughter Robin (Chris), step-son Phil, step-daughter Sarah and grandchildren Abby, Elliot, Ross, Isobel and Esme. Don’s family was a source of pride to him. He enjoyed the sleigh rides and toboggan parties (sometimes even in kilts!) with his family on his birthday. He was a tremendously social man with many lifelong friends who was happiest at the farm in Creemore, where he would walk the paths that meandered through the property, play golf and host annual baseball games on the May long weekend and football on Thanksgiving. The family would like to thank the staff at Woods Park in Barrie as well as Zina Thomson, Gertrude King, Laura King, Cheryl Brearey, Shawnee Jackson and Pam McCallum. A celebration of his life will be held at St. John’s United Church, 192 Mill Street in Creemore on Friday, September 1 at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior. Donations in Don’s name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
