Stop complaining, start communicating, working with others

Editor:
War on ATVers, anti-cyclists, crazy hunters roaming the rural roadways. These seem to be the non-stop editorial submissions that frankly I’m getting tired of reading in The Creemore Echo and am finding increasingly offensive. I’m not a hunter, nor do I own an ATV, but I do ride a bicycle on occasion.
Let’s highlight a few of the submissions…
ATVers leaving a wake of litter and destruction! But no mention of the garbage that is thrown out of the windows of cars and trucks in our region by locals on their way to work. If I had a dime for every Timmy’s cup on the road from Glencairn to Creemore I’d be able to afford an ATV! Not to mention the garbage bags and old mattresses. Where is the outcry against that?
Hunters? Lots of them around – 99 per cent law abiding and our neighbours! You live in the country for Pete’s sake. If you don’t like them go to the city, although there are less law abiding gun carriers there I’m sure.
Damn cyclists on the road holding up traffic! Hey! I pay taxes for my right to use the roads in this region whether by car, truck or bicycle. I’m being green dammit and riding for charities to support cancer research. The groups that travel throughout these roads stop at the coffee shops and pub in Creemore and support our local businesses, which would dry up and blow away leaving us with just another dead town. What are you supporting in your rush to get where you’re going?
Forefathers? Not sure how that is relevant to cyclist’s riding gear. What no mention of developers buying up farm land to build subdivisions destroying the environment and forestry housing our wildlife?
When are you people going to stop complaining and start communicating and working with others in your area that enjoy these activities so we can live together in a peaceful environment? Isn’t the right to a free society where people work together what we dedicated remembrance to just a few days ago?
Connie Webb,
Mulmur.
