TD focussed on US market

 In Letters, Opinion

Editor:

There is an article in the Financial Post dated Oct. 24 regarding the TD Bank that people might find very interesting.

This is in regards to their expansion into the United States. TD is now the eighth biggest US bank by assets.

They have spent US $17 billion from 2005-2010 building its US branch network and now have 1260 branches in the US compared to 1138 in Canada.

The parent company derives one third of its annual profit from US banking. I am sure they can well afford to keep the Creemore branch open.

We have done everything the bank hoped we would by using the ATM, telephone, online and smartphone banking, etc. and this is the result.

I hope another bank can move into town or even a credit union.

Creemore is starting to grow and a bank can well survive along with that growth.

Roger Zeggil,

Stayner.
