Think agriculture when voting

 In Letters, Opinion

Editor:
With the federal election approaching, I write this letter not as a means of persuading people how to vote, but as reminder to think agriculture when at the polls.
In the past year we have seen hundreds of acres consumed for development, which has left farmers unable to compete with the high prices of land and as well other various issues affecting agriculture. Our children are slowly losing an affordable agriculture industry to depend on, if they already haven’t.
Within the next 20 years my generation will be exiting the industry, we all want to leave with a pocket full of money and a life of ease for our children, but we also need to sustain an affordable agriculture industry they can depend on for generations to come. So please keep agriculture on of your priority’s at the polls.
