Undefeated Stayner Siskins play in Creemore Nov. 18

 In Sports

This may be the year that the Junior C Stayner Siskins dethrone the North Carruthers Division perennial winning Alliston Hornets from their perches.

Stayner is a perfect 14-0 in the early going of the regular season.

Alliston is in second spot with a 10-3 record.  Stayner beat the Hornets, 6-3, on home ice Oct. 19.  Alliston will have the comforts of their arena and fans this Sunday when they play again.

Siskins attack is potent. Ben Hughes, who was the league’s top scorer last season, leads the league in points with 41 points from 12 goals and 29 assists.  JD Falconer is finding the back of the net, 22 times and counting. He has added eight assists. Jordan Taylor, 10 goals, 17 assists, Kevin Boyd 10 goals 13 assists, and captain Lucas Jeffery, 9 goals 11 assists, round out the Siskins in the league’s top 12 scorers.

Besides scoring goals, Stayner’s defense is stopping the other clubs’ offense. Siskins goaltending tandem Marcus Semiao and Zach Levac have only given up 31 goals, an anemic 2.21 goals against average.

Stayner also play in Huntsville this Friday and at home Thursday to Midland.

People from Creemore will have a special treat on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 7:10 p.m. when the Siskins play out of the Creemore rink against the Caledon Golden Hawks. Each year, the Siskins play from Creemore to say thank you for their support.
