Various trail users must show mutual courtesy

 In Letters, Opinion

Editor:
I just finished reading your article on the many people using the trail system in various ways (Pandemic proving boon for local winter sport, Jan. 22 p.7), you neglected to mention snowmobilers.
I enjoy seeing folks out taking in the fresh air and beautiful surroundings, however I am concerned for everyone’s safety.
I pay to use these trails and have seen behaviour by both fellow snowmobilers and hikers.
Some sledders go too fast and some hikers seem oblivious or angry to the snowmobilers.
We need to communicate to both parties that this is a multi use part of the trail.
Snowmobile speeds should be monitored in these particular areas.
To the hikers, I would ask all of them leash their pets and step off the trail when they hear a sled approach.
