Volunteers serve up 17th community Christmas feast

 In Community

The Creemore community Christmas dinner, held at the Legion on Dec. 25,  had reservations for over 100 diners. The snowy weather kept a few families away and encouraged several last minute additions so in the end, 92 people partook of the feast, with excess food being delivered to David Busby Street Centre in Barrie and food bank donations to The Salvation Army’s Hope Acres Addiction Treatment Centre in Glencairn.

The Creemore Community Christmas Dinner attracts a wide range of people:  volunteers who love to cook and others who love to decorate; empty-nesters whose children are touring; grandparents whose family gatherings are on another day; people new to town; families that need greater table space; people who simply enjoy being with their neighbours on a festive occasion.

This was the 17th dinner and thanks to a generous community, including a significant 2015 contribution from Vicki Bell and Basia Regan, still on the books, organizers are ahead of the game for 2018.
