Why has local media taken fringe position re: Leitch?

With great interest I have been following the editorial comments and letters to the editor in the three local papers that I receive: The Stayner Sun, The Creemore Echo and The Enterprise Bulletin,  with respect to Dr. Kellie Leitch’s candidacy for leadership of the federal Conservative Party.

I have to say that if these sources were my only access to information about Dr. Leitch’s policy positions and the public’s perception of these positions as represented by local media I would be alarmed.

In the editorial comment from The Toronto Sun, Dec. 13, the editor stated that in a national poll the majority of Canadians who support the three major political parties in Canada – NDP, PC and Liberal – agree with Dr. Leitch’s position on a need for a Canadian values test for impending immigrants.

So I wonder why the local media have chosen to represent a fringe position as illustrated by their relentless attacks on Dr. Leitch’s position.

Did I miss a recent federal election?

Dr. Kellie Leitch is my Member of Parliament because I believe in democracy.
