Woolner, Paul Robert

 In Obituaries

It is with great sadness that the family of Paul Robert Woolner (1940-2018) announces his unexpected passing on Monday December 10, 2018 at the age of 78 peacefully with us by his side.

Husband of 53 years to his beloved wife Margaret (nee Agnew). Devoted father to Sherri (Neal) and the Late Cathy (2005). Loving and proud Grandpa/Papa to Allison, Ryan and Colleen Howes. Predeceased by parents Cecil Alwood Woolner and Florence Mabel Miller, sister Elizabeth (“Bette”) and brother Jim. Survived by several nieces and nephews.

Paul was born and raised in Creemore, Ontario, having worked at the Toronto Dominion Bank in town. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1958 – 1971, a civilian member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police from 1971 – 1994, and as his retirement career, he was the manager of the RCMP Curling Club from 1994 – 2004.

Over the years, Paul had been an avid curler, golfer, philatelist, bird watcher with the grandchildren, genealogist, as well as a car racing and antique car enthusiast (easily recognized driving around Ottawa in his 1931 Model A Ford that he restored).  Paul valued the many lasting friendships he made through these interests. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home Walkley Chapel, 1255 Walkley Road, Ottawa, ON, K1V 6P9 (613-731-1255).

On Saturday December 15, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday December 16, 2018 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Funeral Service will be held Monday December 17, 2018 at Rideau Park United Church, (2203 Alta Vista Drive) at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Ottawa Humane Society, or charity of your choice in Paul’s name would be greatly appreciated. Condolences and sharing memories at www.kellyfh.ca
