The new king of Foodland

Foodland’s new owner has ambitious plans for revitalizing Creemore’s big-box grocery store.

In the next month, Troy Scott, Foodland’s new owner and manager, will oversee the addition of a new dairy department and a new frozen food section in the store.

Scott said Foodland will feature fresher products, as well as a health and wellness section. There will also be an area where customers can buy products that are gluten-free.

“Creemore is interesting because there are two different kinds of customers,” Scott explained. “There is our base clientele of people who live and shop here seven days a week, year-round, and who are steady. Then there are the weekenders who buy anything and everything. Being small, we know that we can’t be everything to everyone – but we can try!”

Renovations will start within the next month, Scott said. They will take about four days to complete, during which time Foodland will remain open.

While customers will notice changes in the store, Scott said the 22 staff members the Foodland employs will remain the same.

“I love the staff!” he stated.

Scott, who lives in Innisfil, previously owned the Foodland in Cookstown.

While he started managing the store three weeks ago, he said his ownership will become official after the renovations are complete.
