Stayner students donate to MADD
A donation of $1,000 was recently made by Stayner Collegiate’s S.A.I.D. group (Students Against Impaired Driving) to the Barrie/Simcoe Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Canada. The cheque was given in memory of Tammy Emerton, a former SCI student and Creemore resident. Tammy died 25 years ago when the vehicle in which she was riding was struck by an impaired driver. The S.A.I.D. group was formed shortly after her death and has worked hard in the school and the community to make people think before getting behind the wheel in a compromised state. The cheque was presented by S.A.I.D. student president Marlee Morrill, staff advisor Kevin Arnott and principal Janice Ellerby to Bev Hostyn, Director of Education for the local branch of M.A.D.D.
