SCI staffers offer Terry Fox fundraising bonus

 In News

Stayner Collegiate Institute (SCI) is hosting its 18th annual Terry Fox Run/Walk as part of National School Run Day on Wednesday, Sept. 30 with the goal of raising $2,000 for cancer research through the Terry Fox Foundation.

SCI staffers have upped the ante to raise additional donations to the Terry Fox Foundation. Heidi Perrin, senior administrative secretary, will get a pie in the face if donations exceed $200 and Janice McLeod, SCI’s Student Success teacher, will get duct taped to a wall.

“The Terry Fox Foundation is a great cause, and this gives us the opportunity to show our Spartan spirit raising money for it,” said Perrin.

Additional incentives have been offered by SCI student council. The class that raises the most money will receive a Dairy Queen cake.  There will also be a class dress up challenge and the class with the most innovative team costume will win a prize.  This will be a fun event and the students are thrilled that the money is going to such a worthy cause.

Students can set up their own fundraising page at www.terryfox.org/SchoolRun. Parents can support their children by helping to set up a fundraising page or by sponsoring a student for this year’s run.
