Dinner raises $10,000 in memory of Paul Millsap

An event held in memory of Paul Millsap has raised $10,000 for the creation of an advanced cardiac program at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie.

Marie Stephenson, Vern Pawlech and Paul and Karen Crevier put together a gourmet dinner for about 160 people who attended the Sept. 18 event.

Stephenson said organizers were able to raise so much money thanks to those in attendance, those who donated even though they couldn’t attend and the generous sponsors who donated the food.

Fundraising dinners have been held in the past for the Creemore Curling Club but because the event was in memory of Millsap, who died of a heart attack in June at the age of 74, there was a bigger turnout.

“Marie Stephenson’s ability to organize a fundraiser is truly inspiring for those that have had the opportunity to lend her a hand,” said Paul’s nephew David Millsap.

“Marie and Vern have been very generous with their time in both organizing and hosting multiple fundraisers for the Creemore Curling Club over the years. The most recent one was extra special to me being the proceeds were going to RVH Advanced Cardiac Care in memory of Paul Millsap. My uncle Paul would be touched by the generosity of the community to raise this amount of money in his memory.”
