NCPS hosts 700 area runners
On Oct. 8, Nottawasaga and Creemore Public School hosted a cross-country run for schools from the Simcoe West area.
Approximately 700 runners in Grades 4-8 competed in the Creemore Fun Run in preparation for the Simcoe West Area Cross Country Championships, which were held Tuesday, Oct. 13 at Wasaga Nordic (Blueberry Trails) in Wasaga Beach.
Qualifiers from the Simcoe West championships will move on to the County Championships next week at Mount St. Louis Moonstone.
NCPS coaching staff and cross-country team would like to extend a big thank you on behalf of all the runners who participated in our run to the volunteers who helped marshal the course along Edward Street to ensure the safety of all the participants.
They also thank Clearivew Township for supporting the event with road closures and access to Gowan Memorial Park, where the teams were able to set up home bases for the day, and the residents of Creemore, especially those who live along the roads that were affected, for their cooperation.
“All of these community supports enabled us to provide a fantastic experience for the students,” said organizers.
