Family escapes New Lowell fire

Clearview Township firefighters were called to a house fire in New Lowell shortly after midnight on Monday.

Deputy Fire Chief Roree Payment said two adults and two children escaped with no injuries and the house had working smoke alarms.

The cause of the fire appears to be electrical in nature, said Payment. The fire started in a detached garage and quickly spread to the house.

“Crews from New Lowell, Creemore and Stayner had the fire under control quickly and held the fire to the rear of the structure,” said Payment.
