Christmas musical at Theatre Orangeville

 In Events

Canadian musical theatre composer, lyricist, and librettist, Leslie Arden returns to Theatre Orangeville.

Arden will be premiering her first ever Christmas musical, The Gift Of The Magi, which runs until Dec. 20.

The heartwarming musical is adapted from two famous O. Henry short stories, one of the same name.

The Gift Of The Magi follows a down-on-their-luck couple going to great lengths to find the perfect gift for each other.

Jimmy Valentine has been on the wrong side of the law his entire life and the beautiful Della has never met a man she could love.

In keeping with the spirit of Christmas, they just might discover that the best gifts truly come from the heart.

Arden was born in Beverly Hills, California to singer Cleone Duncan and performer, Paul Howard Jenkins. She began her career working alongside American composer and conductor of Broadway musicals, Lehman Engel. In the early 1990s, Arden was selected to study with legendary musical theatre composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim at Oxford University. Today, Leslie Arden is arguably one of Canada’s premiere musical theatre talents.

No stranger to Theatre Orangeville, The Gift Of The Magi marks Ardens’ third world premiere show at the Opera House. Arden collaborated with Playwright Norm Foster in 1997 to develop Theatre Orangeville world premiere musical, The Last Resort. In 2011, Arden brought to life Norm Foster book, Ned Durango in yet another Theatre Orangeville world premiere.

Tickets can be purchased online at theatreorangeville.ca or by calling 519-942-3423 or 1-800-424-1295.
