Legion hosts dinner to raise funds for SCI’s Vimy trip
On Sept. 15, 20 members enjoyed a very tasty potluck once again which we have every third Thursday of the month.
There is a roast beef dinner on October 15, to assist a group of students who wish to visit Vimy Ridge.
This dinner will be held at the Creemore Legion and tickets must be ordered by October 8.
The Legion is having floors replaced and repairs done, so for the next two to three weeks we will be entering at the side door and playing cards in the large room.
A good turnout for cards, and 50/50 draws were won by Jim Rigney, Alma Seifert, Norma Johnston, Ted Underhill, Ruby Klinck, Carol Tymchuk and Ray Leighton.
Eight Moon Shots were played by Roy Veinot x2, Marcia Cameron, Janice Stephens, June Hartley, Gerry Long, Norma Johnston with the travel prize to Eileen Nash.
Winner at cards were Janice Stephens, 318, Roy Veinot; 276, Alinda Bishop, 271; John Van Voorst, 262 and low went to Alma Seifert, 104. The lucky chair went to Evelyn Warden.
An 80-year-old gentleman had an early appointment with his doctor and seemed anxious to get it over with. When asked why the man replied that he went to the hospital every morning at 9 a.m. to have breakfast with his wife. The doctor asked of her condition and he said five years with Alzhiemer’s and she did not know him. Then why go asked the doctor if she does not know who you are. The old gentleman replied, “because I still know who she is.”
