Students participate in Movember activities

 In Community

To start off our column this week, report cards are going home with students on Friday, Nov. 11 and there is a P.A. Day on Nov. 18.

Every year, our school has an event that takes place in November called Movember. This usually means that lots of kids around the school walk around wearing paper moustaches and purchasing a “moustache cookie”, a school tradition.

This year, however, instead of the school giving house points out on one day in Movember, they’re doing it every Monday. This means that kids have to wear a moustache every Monday in order to collect adequate house points for their house colour.

Brian Surowiec, in partnership with a Grade 7 student named Jocelyn, is organizing a fundraiser for prostate cancer research as part of Movember. Parents and members of the community are welcome to go to the school and donate some money, though the doors are locked and you have to get rung in via a button that is beside the front door.
