Warden stays on as Big Heart president

 In Community

I wish all a very Happy New Year. May 2017 be the best of years, healthy and wealthy.

Because of inclement weather we had to postpone our Christmas dinner and postpone the donations we usually make.

Irma Flack and I decided we would go ahead with a donation of $500, before Christmas which was given to Rev. Lorna May from the Anglican Church, who takes care of a lot of the needy in the area.

It was motioned and carried that we donate $200 to the school breakfast for children who come to school without, $500 to Hospice, $2,000 to the Creemore Legion, $200 to the Clearview Stayner Food Bank, and $300 to Hope Acres Salvation Army.

Several months ago I had made a snap decision to resign at the end of the year, however I have since been feeling quite well and I reconsidered. I made this known to Irma Flack who suddenly made this known to the crowd who were, much to my surprise, very receptive to this news. In light of this, the executive committee remains: President Evelyn Warden with Marcia Cameron as co-president; Dave Smith, Vice-President; Irma Flack, Treasurer; thank you to our candy girl Phyllis Seed and to Roy Veinot, bell ringer.

Thirty-six members were out for cards and 50/50 draws were won by Wilma Zeggil, Barb Cudmore, Mary Bouchard, Brenda Long, Marg Falls and Marcia Cameron.

Eight Moon Shots were played by Irma Flack, Phyllis Seed, June Hartley, Leona Hartling, Janice Stephens, Barb Pilon and Ted Underhill x2 received the travel prize.

Winners for cards were Marcia Cameron, 376; June Hartley, 313; Barb Pilon, 290; Melvin Lougheed, 275, with low going to Norma Johnston, 66. The Lucky chair went to Leona Hartling.

Remember: One small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day.

Evelyn Warden is president of Big Heart Seniors.
