Jim Wilson gets PC nomination
The local Progressive Conservative riding association has nominated Jim Wilson as candidate for the riding.
The long-time MPP was chosen at a nomination meeting in Collingwood on Jan. 28.
“First elected in 1990, Jim is a stalwart in his community and within our Party. Raised in Alliston and a resident of Wasaga Beach, Jim loves his constituency,” said Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown in a statement to media.
Wilson helped in the fight against the wind turbines wpd hoped to erect near Collingwood Regional Airport and received all-party support for his Private Member’s bills, the Christmas Tree Day Act and the Remembrance Week Act.
“In 2014, Jim was elected by his Ontario PC Caucus colleagues as Interim Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party and Leader of the Official Opposition, where he managed our Party through a transitional period. Jim has continued in a leadership role within the Legislature, where he is currently doing great work as the Opposition House Leader,” said Brown.
