A 33-year-old Clearview Township man, a resident of Creemore, has died of injuries sustained during an ATV accident.

On Saturday morning, a passerby came upon the scene on Lavender Hill Road, just south of Dunedin, where the man had been trapped for several hours.

Clearview Fire Chief Colin Shewell said rescuers were called at 8 a.m. With firefighters, paramedics and police on scene, the injured man was extricated and taken to hospital in serious condition.

Shewell said the scene was close to the road but firefighters had to cut some trees and stabilize the ATV before removing the injured man from the scene.

“The initial investigation indicates the male occupant had been trapped under the ATV for several hours prior to emergency services being dispatched to the collision scene. The male was freed from under the ATV by emergency responders and transported to Collingwood General and Marine Hospital. The male was then transported to Hospital in Toronto with life threatening injuries. The 33-year-old Clearview Township man succumbed to his injuries while in Toronto hospital,” said police.

An investigation is continuing.
