SCI student elected student trustee

The newly elected student trustees for the Simcoe County District School Board are Zainab Jafri, a Grade 10 student at Eastview Secondary School, Fisher Monahan, a Grade 10 student at Stayner Collegiate Institute, and Cassandra McMahon, a Grade 11 student at Bear Creek Secondary School.

Monahan competed against four other students elected to represent high schools in the south and west region.

Student trustees are elected by their peers to bring student perspectives to school board trustee discussions, assist trustees in determining student issues, gather student opinion and help to foster effective communication between the board and students.
