“Death Notice” – Democracy

It is with deep sadness that I must inform the residents of Clearview, the recent passing of Democracy.
The incident happened at the Clearview council meeting some weeks ago. Democracy, aging, but still vital to us all, was unable to move out of its own way as Mayor Measures and five other councillors, apparently in a hurry to take advantage of these Covid times, ignored their own rules and ran right over it. Those councillors quickly left the scene without answering questions, as there was nobody there to ask them. Democracy was left to die on the floor of council chambers with only the comforting hand of the remaining three councillors who stayed by its side. Democracy is survived by Transparency, Truth, Fairness, and Public Outrage.
