2021 Virtual Newcomer Recognition Awards nominations open

The County of Simcoe has opened the nomination period for the 2021 Virtual Newcomer Recognition Awards.
Over the past eight years, the Simcoe County Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) has hosted this annual celebration to recognize outstanding community leaders and champions who take decisive action to enhance the lives of newcomers in Simcoe County. Similar to the 2020 event, the ninth annual Newcomer Recognition Awards celebration will once again be hosted virtually in November.
The deadline to recognize deserving community champions is Sept. 24. Application submissions should be returned via fax to 705-725-9539, or email to sclip@simcoe.ca. Individuals and/or organizations/businesses can be nominated for the following categories:
• Community Champion
• Immigrant Artist
• Immigrant Entrepreneur
• Immigrant Mentor
• Service Excellence Award
• Immigrant Youth
• Youth Community Champion
• Ethno-cultural Group Award
• Culturally Diverse Workforce (organization/business)
• Welcoming Work Environment (organization/business)
• Marketing and Outreach (organization/business)
• Multiculturalism through Education (educator/school).
