Clearview man charged with arson following house fire
As a result of a joint investigation between the Huronia West OPP Crime Unit and the Office of the Fire Marshal an arrest was made in connection with a house fire in Clearview Township.
Emergency crews were called to a residential fire on the 6th Concession of Nottawasaga, Clearview Township, just before noon on Feb. 9.
Fire Chief Roree Payment tweeted on the day that crews fought a basement fire and that one occupant was transported to hospital in stable condition.
Two residents who were in the home at the time of the fire had escaped prior to the arrival of emergency services and were not injured. The damage to the residence is estimated at $300,000.
Clearview Township resident Dean Doucet, 30, has been arrested and charged with arson – disregard for human life.
Doucet was held for a bail hearing in the Ontario court of Justice in Collingwood, and was remanded into custody.
