Clearview Women’s Day celebrates community

To mark International Women’s Day, the Clearview Chamber of Commerce is hosting its first annual Clearview Women’s Day.

The March 6 event was supposed to be held in-person but organizer Katie Campbell said she was forced to switch it up as pandemic restrictions tightened.

“The theme I’ve gone with – especially after what we’ve gone through these pas two years – is self-love, wellness and health,” said Campbell. “It’s a day to come together and just connect, and celebrate, and rise in everything we do as women.”

Campbell is a Stayner resident who works as a mortgage agent with Mortgage Architects and is the administrative coordinator for the Clearview Chamber of Commerce.

The event’s keynote speaker is Ashley Lougheed (pictured), founder and CEO of Girl Time Inc., a membership-based social club or kula – a Sanskrit word meaning a community of influential, widespread and legendary goddesses who come together and celebrate inclusivity and a sense of belonging.

Campbell said Lougheed is very inspirational and speaks to the light in all of us and raising each other up.

Lougheed’s mission is to create a collaborative community for women, where they can create life- long friendships, live a healthy and active lifestyle and inspire each other to grow both individually and as a whole. She is the author of a new book, Whisper.

Campbell said after Lougheed builds everyone up, Creemore based yoga therapist Sass Dempsey will be leading participants in a wind-down. She will speak to aligning emotional and physical health and teaching a short meditative breathing exercise that people can do in their busy day-to-day lives.

On that day, the winner of the new Clearview Women in Business Award will be announced.

There is an online auction of items donated by local women in business, with proceeds going to support Chamber activities and a women’s charity, with host and auctionista Melanie Case, a Peak FM radio host.

Participants are invited compete for best dressed and best virtual Zoom background for a chance to win one of three dinner prizes at local restaurants.

The event is online, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Regular admission costs $10 and VIP access costs $30 and includes a gift package, valued at $20, to be mailed out after the event and a yoga session, valued at $24, with Sass.

Register and view the auction items at www. clearviewchamber.com.
